KO WAI MĀTOU? WHO ARE WE?

Never Ceded’s identity is rooted in the movement for Māori sovereignty in Aotearoa. Our clothes are created as statements of sovereignty, with each piece honouring He Whakaputanga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Our whānau’s (family’s) journey of reclaiming sovereignty marked the beginning of our brand. While on this journey, we came to understand the important role that clothing would play in conveying the truth central to the movement - that Māori “never ceded sovereignty” in Aotearoa. 

While our mission is to create clothes that carry this truth, we recognise that the reclamation of sovereignty is a movement shared by all indigenous peoples around the world. We stand in solidarity with our indigenous brothers and sisters who, like us, are seeking liberation on their own whenua (land).
